General Hardware RM750, the fan doesn't spin even at initial boot RodoGodo19 Oct 4, 2013 RodoGodo19 Joined Oct 4, 2013 Messages 272 (0.09/day) Oct 4, 2013 #1 Hi, i bought it on and the fan doesn't spin even at initial boot. I was playing Batterfield 3 and the PSU was very hot and the fan doesn't spin at all. I have bought a RM750 brand new a couple months ago or so, and after noticing that the fan would randomly spin while in idle/browsing, despite pulling less than 100w (reminder, this 750w unit should only have its fan start spinning when around 300w (40%) of power draw) Room temperature is always around 20°c or below,. The Corsair RM750 is the middle member of the new RM line, offering great overall performance and silent operation. It has a street price of $119.99 (£94.2) which is quite high given that the.

Thanks to recent feedback provided by an early reviewer, we have discovered a PSU fan operation issue that can be triggered with the RM750 and RM850W under highly unusual operating conditions. For the issue to occur, the PSU must be run for more than 15 minutes at: Ambient temperature 35°C (95°F) or higher. I have built a custom pc with the aim of it being very quiet To that end I bought the Corsair RM750 PSU, beacause of it's feature to not use the fan before it reaches 40% usage. My problem is that no matter what I plug into my PSU the fan starts spinning at (what I assume is) 100% immediately and never stops. The Corsair RM750 is designed with capacitors and transformers carefully selected to eliminate coil whine and other background noise that can be annoying in quiet environments. Zero RPM Fan Mode. The efficient design of the RM750 means minimal excess heat generation, so the fan doesn't even need to spin under low to medium loads.

Well, I won't lie: I wouldn't want to see you get stuck with another Corsair PSU - not even if it's an HX or AX series. Corsair just doesn't rub me the right way anymore. I'd actually be happy if they were to quit making PSUs. They should at least go back to their roots and quit making a mixture of junk and quality and ONLY make quality.

The RM750 didn't have any problem whatsoever operating at very high ambient temperatures, and as you can see from the table above, the fan only spun at 80% load and above. However, given the not-so-good capacitor choice in the secondary side, the fan engaged rather late, which puts a ton of stress on the Chinese caps.

Faulty Fan. A faulty fan is one of the most common reasons for the 'PSU Fan not spinning' problem. The fan can become faulty either because it is jammed due to dust, or due to hardware failure that includes worn-out bearings, or because of some component failure in the fan. Previous PSU was indeed another RM750 by Corsair, but version 1. The "click" sound at startup is clearly audible, though not as high as my RM750v1. The "click" sound at turn off is higher than the startup one. With your explanation and the 10 year warranty by Corsair I think I'll just go ahead Thanks indeed Spotty!. That's when the fan isn't running - total system draw isn't enough to reach past the 340w limit. If you needed to see for yourself, perhaps get a kill-a-watt meter or a UPS with a draw meter and then load the system up under some GPU stress test like 3D mark time spy, then see if you can see the psu fan spin when draw at the PSU is over 340w.
